Walter Mike Host was born on September 6, 1909, in Conklin, Ottawa County, Michigan. He was the son of Albert Host and Verona Host.
Walter served in the 44th Armored Infantry Battalion, 6th Armored Division, as a Technician 5th Grade during World War II. He was one of the 75 soldiers killed during the liberation of Plabennec and Plouvien, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery, Montjoie Saint Martin, France. He has a cenotaph located in the Saint Joseph Cemetery, Marne, Ottawa County, Michigan, USA.
