Joseph Frank Cappello was born on September 8, 1919, in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey. He was the son of John Cappello and Mary Cioffi Cappello.
Joseph served in the 44th Armored Infantry Battalion, 6th Armored Division, as a Sergeant during World War II. He was one of the 75 soldiers killed during the liberation of Plabennec and Plouvien, France. He is now buried in the Holy Name Cemetery and Mausoleum, Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, USA.
