Jay Dee Blodgett was born on August 17, 1924, in Bluffton, Wells County, Indiana. He was the husband of Martha Genelda Sprowl Sloderbeck. He served in the 44th Infantry Battalion, 6th Armored Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was one of the 75 soldiers killed during the liberation of Plabennec and Plouvien, France. PFC Blodgett is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery, Montjoie Saint Martin, France.
