Albert Cameron Burrage III was born on February 14, 1919, in Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts. He was a graduate of St. Mark's School, Southboro, and left Harvard in 1940 to join the American field service, in which he was a Captain in the field artillery.

At the time of his death, Captain Burrage was serving in the Combat Command "A," 6th Armored Division. He was one of the 75 soldiers killed during the liberation of Plabennec and Plouvien, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery, Montjoie Saint Martin, France.
