Robert Medfield Scott was born on December 8, 1920, in Powell, Park County, Wyoming. He was the son of Joseph Medfield Scott and Ellen Marie Jamieson Scott.

Robert completed high school and joined the 376th Parachute Field Artillery of the 82nd Airborne Division in military service. He witnessed the invasions of North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and Normandy until he was hit by German artillery cannons with a fatal end shortly before the Waal crossing on September 20 at the site of the Electric Power Station. He was killed after he arrived at a British tank on the Waalbank. PFC Scott is now buried in the Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
