Norris B. Case was born on January 7, 1922, in Wolcottville, LaGrange County, Indiana. He was the son of Andrew Perry Case and Agnes V Reade Case.

Norris entered the Army on November 21, 1942. At the time of his death, he was serving in Company D, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He was Killed in action on September 20, 1944, during Operation Market Garden while participating in the Waal River crossing, the heroic crossing that liberated Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He was one of the 49 paratroopers killed during the assault on German positions on the opposite bank. Pvt Case is now buried in the Woodruff Memorial Gardens, Woodruff, LaGrange County, Indiana, USA.
