Scott E. Hoover was born on September 26, 1920, in Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Army on August 15, 1942, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in a public service occupation and also as Single, without dependents.
Scott served in the 597th Bomber Squadron, 397th Bomb Group, as a Staff Sergeant and Gunner on the B-55-MA "Post War Plans" #42-96127 during World War II.
On June 24, 1944, his crew took off from Station 168 airfield in Rivenhall, England, with an assigned target of Maisons-La-Fitte Bridge, France. Hit by flak at about 1930hrs, their airplane went straight down the Avenue La Fountaine in Maisons-Lafitte. All members were killed in this incident.
