Harold G. Vorhees was born in 1916. He resided in Butler County, Pennsylvania, prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on October 2, 1940, prior to the war, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Driver and also as Single, without dependents.

Harold served in the 597th Bomber Squadron, 397th Bomb Group, as a Staff Sergeant and Mechanic on the B-55-MA "Post War Plans" #42-96127 during World War II.

On June 24, 1944, his crew took off from Station 168 airfield in Rivenhall, England, with an assigned target of Maisons-La-Fitte Bridge, France. Hit by flak at about 1930hrs, their airplane went straight down the Avenue La Fountaine in Maisons-Lafitte. All members were killed in this incident.
