Donald Paul Davies was born on October 5, 1948, in Lachine, Quebec, Canada. He was the son of Thomas A. Davies and Muriel Gagn� Davies of Lachine, QC.

Donald was a US Army (Regular) SP5 Army Reconnaissance Specialist serving in the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, at the time of his death. On June 29, 1969, he died of burns in a non-hostile action due to an explosion in a bunker in Binh Duong, South Vietnam.
