Wendell S. Canoy was born in 1922 in Pemiscot County, Missouri. He was the son of Ida Mae Canoy.
Wendell served in the 10th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on January 22, 1945, during the liberation of Putscheid, Luxembourg. PFC Canoy is now buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery, Luxembourg.
