John J. Gaddis, Jr. was born on February 5, 1924, in Bartow County, Georgia. He was the son of John J Gaddis and Anna B Gaddis.

John, Jr. served in the 10th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on January 19, 1945, during the liberation of Putscheid, Luxembourg. PFC Gaddis is now buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery, Luxembourg. He also has a cenotaph located in the Mount Pleasant Church Cemetery, Pine Log, Bartow County, Georgia.
