Sigmund W. Ligas was born in 1918 in Wisconcin. He was the son of Albert Ligas and Mary Chrobak Ligas.
Sigmund served in the 7th Engineer Combat Battalion, 5th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on January 18, 1945, during the liberation of Putscheid, Luxembourg. Pvt Ligas is now buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery, Luxembourg.
