John S. Rose served in the 328th Bomber Squadron, 93rd Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and Gunner on the B-24 #42-40983 'Bar Fly' during World War II.
On April 1, 1944, his crew took off from Hardwick, England, for a mission to Germany. At 11:52H, on return from their mission, their plane was shot down by flak and enemy fighters between Fresne-les-Reims and Burgundy, France. Unfortunately, none of the crew members survived. The MACR cannot be found, but it is possible that the plane crashed in Belgium.
SSgt Rose's current burial place is unknown.
