Douglas A. Jacks was born on April 8, 1918, in San Diego County, California. He was the son of John Douglas Jacks and Ethel Margaret Abbey Jacks.
Douglas served in the 10th Fighter Squadron, 50th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant and Pilot on the P-47 #42-8675 during World War II. On July 28, 1944, he took off from A-10 airfield in Carentan, France, for an armed reconnaissance mission. He was killed in an air crash during his mission, and his plane crashed in Bréhal, France. It was possible that he collided with one of the eight P-47s from his section during their strafing. 1Lt Jacks is now buried in the Glen Abbey Memorial Park, Bonita, San Diego County, California, USA.
