Donald G. Balmer was born on November 4, 1923, in Lawrenceville, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
He entered the Army in February 1943 and trained at Camp Swift, Tex., and Camp Balding, Fla. At the time of his death, Donald served as a Corporal in Company A, 147th Engineer Combat Battalion. He was Killed in Action on September 17, 1944, in France and is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
