Ralph A. Gay was born on February 15, 1923. He was the son of Ellis Cleon Gay and Hattie Bell Keen Gay.

Ralph served as a Technician 4th Grade in the Headquarters & Service Company, 147th Engineer Combat Battalion, during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 30, 1944, at the age of 21, and is now buried in the Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville National Historic Site, Macon County, Georgia, USA.
