On August 1, 1944, his crew took off from Station 104 airfield in Hardwick, England, on a bombing mission to the north of France. Hit by flak, an evacuation order was given. Three men, including 2Lt Boggan, jumped over Paris. Their plane crash-landed between Sheerness and East Church - Isle of Sheppey in Kent, UK. 2Lt Boggan survived and evaded enemy capture.
