Joseph D. Klonowski was born on August 6, 1924, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Stanislaus Klonowski and Caroline Klonowski.
Joseph enlisted in the Army on April 5, 1943, and at the time of his death, was serving in the 489th Anti-Aircraft Arty (Automatic Weapons) Battalion as a Technician 5th Grade. He was killed in Pont-Scorff, France, on August 7, 1944, and is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery, Montjoie Saint Martin, France.
