Robert Irl "Bob" Krohe was born on November 20, 1920, in Cass County, Illinois. He was the son of Irl E Krohe and Adah E Knight Krohe.

Robert enlisted in the Army on May 31, 1942, and at the time of his death, was serving in the HQ Company of the 696th Field Artillery Battalion as a Sergeant. He was killed in Pont-Scorff, France, on August 7, 1944, and is now buried in the Saint John Lutheran Cemetery, Beardstown, Cass County, Illinois, USA.
