Arthur Joseph Perrault was born on October 5, 1890, in Holyoke, Massachusetts. He was the son of Arthur Joseph Perrault and Olivine Berger Perrault.

Arthur entered the service in June 1917 and was sent to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for preliminary training. He received his commission in September 1917 and went to England in December 1917, being transferred to the Royal Flying school in Paris. He was the first Holyoker to pilot a machine in France for the United States Army.

1Lt Perrault was killed in an airplane accident in Issoudun, France, on March 7, 1918. The accident report says "Pilot at an approximate altitude of 1200 meters started to spiral. After making one turn, machine stalled and went into a vrille, came out of vrille at about 500 meters altitude, stalled and went into vrille again, crashing into ground, killing pilot instantly and totally wrecking machine." 1Lt Perrault was one of the 171 American servicemen who trained at the Third Aviation Instruction Center in France and died between 1917-1919. He is now buried in the Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA.
