Walter L. Fitzgerald was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Fitzgerald of York, Pa. He graduated from York High School in 1914. He was a member of the First Moravian Church and the Y. M. C. A. of York.
Walter enlisted on July 15, 1917, and was sent to Columbus Barracks, Columbus, Ohio, from there to Kelly Field, Texas, and then to France, where he served four months. Private Fitzgerald died of spinal meningitis on January 6. 1918, at Tours, France. He was buried at Toure Indre Et Loire, France. His final resting place is in the Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France.
