Reginald J. Calkins was born on March 22, 1898. He enlisted into the ambulance corps in June 1917, and later in that year, he transferred to the aviation service to be a flyer. He took a ground course at Princeton university and graduated as a Cadet-Colonel.
He was offered a commission as commander and as an instructor at the ground school but refused because he wished to fly. He then went to an aviation camp in Dick, Tex. There he completed his course and was rated as an A-1 pilot with the commission of Second Lieutenant. He received air training at Ellington Field, near Houston, Texas.
Reginald was sent to France and finished his advanced training. On November 11, 1918, Reginald was killed in an airplane accident. In all probability, he was flying at the front. He is now buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Green Bay, Brown County, Wisconsin, USA.
