Cecil M. Anderson was born on May 6, 1888, in Oregon, but most of his life was in Salinas, California. He enlisted in the aviation branch of the military service in June 1917, shortly after the US entered the war. After a brief preliminary preparation, he was assigned to the aviation school at Berkeley, where he trained for a short time and was sent overseas with the American Expeditionary Forces to complete his training. He left Berkeley on October 23, 1917.
Cecil finished his course of training in the Third Aviation Instruction Center in France and was ready to go into service at the front. Unfortunately, Cecil was killed in an airplane accident on September 15, 1918. He is now buried in the Garden of Memories, Salinas, Monterey County, California, USA.
