Philip John Reichert, Jr. was born on December 19, 1918, in Concordia, Kansas. He was the son of Phillip John Reichert and Shirley Bell McRoberts Reichert.
At the time of his death, Philip John, Jr. was serving in the 908th Field Artillery Battalion, 83rd Infantry Division, as a First Lieutenant and Observer on the Piper L-4 Code 47 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 10, 1944, in the crash of his plane after being shot by flak. His plane exploded in mid-air and crashed in Dinard/Pleurtuit in France.
