Glen M. Holm was born on September 29, 1922, in Moline, Illinois. He was the son of Ella I. Holm. He graduated from the University of Illinois.

Glen served in the 873rd Bomber Squadron, 498th Bomber Group, as a Flight Officer and Radar Operator on the B-29 #44-61666 'Sweet Sixteen' during World War II.

On September 4, 1945, the ship he was in was dropping relief supplies to the POW camp in Kawaminami Kogyo Koyagijima Shipyard in Koyagi Village, Nishisonogi District, Nagasaki Prefecture (now Koyagi Town, Nagasaki City ). However, due to an unknown circumstance, they crashed into Mount Sashiki on the opposite shore of Koyagi Island, killing thirteen members of the crew. F/O Holm was the sole survivor.

He retired as a small arms equipment specialist after 40 years with the Rock Island Arsenal. He married Marilyn Zvonik. Glen later married Eileen Neu on June 13, 1969, in Moline. She died January 14, 2002. He was a handyman and a gardener.

Glen died on November 18, 2011, at the age of 89, in Galesburg, Illinois. He has a cenotaph in the Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Davenport, Scott County, Iowa, USA.
