Lee V. Allen was born on April 15, 1916, in Smithfield, Texas. He was the son of Cadmus Lee Allen and Vada Virginia Brown Allen.
Lee served in the 704th Bomber Squadron, 446th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a First Lieutenant and Pilot on the B-24 #42-7577 'Buzz Buggy' during World War II.
On December 31, 1943, the crew took off from Station 125 airfield in Bungay, England, on a bombing mission to Cognac-Chateaubernard, France. At 12h10, under an unknown circumstance, their airplane crashed off the coast of Carcans, France. All men aboard were killed in this crash.
1Lt Allen's body was found on January 20, 1944, in Mimizan. He was buried in Mimizan-Bourg, then Luynes in 1945, and finally in the USA. He is now buried in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas.
He is remembered on a memorial in Carcans and in Mezos, France
