Ernest Gilbert Dierks was born on February 19, 1915, in Tallula, Illinois. He was the son of Meine J Dierks and Meta M Ritterbush Dierks. He was married to Neva Belle Woodrum Dierks.
Ernest served in the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 29, 1944, at the age of 29, during the liberation of Vexin, France. Pvt Dierks is now buried in the Epinal American Cemetery, Dinozé, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Greenwood Cemetery East, Illinois.
