Leland Humes Thomas was born on May 8, 1911, in Willette, Tennessee. He was the son of Thomas C. Thomas and Mary M. Thomas. He was married to Kate D. Rigsby Thomas.
Leland served in the 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 28, 1944, at the age of 33, during the liberation of Vexin, France. Pvt Thomas is now buried in the Ridgewood Cemetery, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, USA.
