Kermit Walter Proctor was born on February 16, 1924, in Lucama, North Carolina. He was the son of Charlie Thomas Proctor and Rosa Langston Proctor.
Kermit served in the 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 28, 1944, during the liberation of Vexin, France, and is now buried in the Epinal American Cemetery, Dinozé, France. He also has a cenotaph located in
Upper Black Creek Church Cemetery, North Carolina.
