Richard Harding Fite was born on May 26, 1918, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the son of John Ellsworth Fite and Edith Mae Mann or Munn Fite.

Richard served in the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. He died on August 28, 1944, at the age of 26, during the liberation of Vexin, France. 2Lt Fite is now buried in the Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA.
