Merle P. Blaisdell was born on July 16, 1921. He was the son of Edgar Blaisdell and Barbara Ann Schaedler Blaisdell.

Merle served in the 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 28, 1944, at the age of 23, during the liberation of Vexin, France. PFC Blaisdell is now buried in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Morrill, Morrison County, Minnesota, USA.
