James Claborn “JC” Yeargin was born on September 22, 1917, in Creedmoor, Granville County, North Carolina. He was the son of Joseph Columbus Yeargin and Leah Nora Averette Yeargin. He was married to Annie Evelyn Smith Potts.

James served in the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 27, 1944, during the liberation of Vexin, France, and is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
