Charles Sylvester Lyme was born on July 7, 1918, in Miami County, Ohio. He was the son of Clarence Alva Lyme and Margaret Florence Lyme. He was married to Helen Marie Yates Allen.
Charles served in the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 27, 1944, during the liberation of Vexin, France, and is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, Shelby County, Ohio.
