William Edward Wills was born on November 16, 1910, in Crookston Township, Polk County, Minnesota. He was the son of Edward Wills and Eliza Jane Curnow Wills.

William Edward served in the 315th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 29, 1944, during the liberation of Vexin, France, and is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
