Edgar Ray Woodson was born on September 10, 1914, in Alba, Rains County, Texas. He was the son of John Edward Harbison and Ina Woodson Harbison.

Edgar served in the 315th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He went overseas in March 1944. He took part in the Normandy invasion and was wounded at Cherbourg. He was released from the hospital only a few days before returning to action, in which engagement he was fatally wounded.

1Lt Woodson died on August 28, 1944, at the age of 29, during the liberation of Vexin, France. He is now buried in the Sweetwater Cemetery, Sweetwater, Nolan County, Texas, USA. His unit on his headstone is 314th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division.
