Herman W. Hunt was born on December 22, 1924. He was the son of Earlie Columbus Hunt and Viola Izora Chapman Hunt.

Herman served in the Medical Detachment of the 315th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division as a Technician 4th Grade and Medic during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 29, 1944, and is now buried in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Winchester, Franklin County, Tennessee, USA. His name is commemorated on the Liberation of Vexin monument located in Fontenay-Saint-P�re, France, but he is listed under August 28, 1944, casualties.
