Romey James Horne was born on August 2, 1921. He was the son of William Hix Horne and Ruby Lee Gose Horne.
Romey served in the 315th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He died from his wounds received in combat on August 28, 1944, during the liberation of Vexin, France. PFC Horne is now buried in the Highland Cemetery, Norton, Norton City, Virginia, USA. His name is commemorated on a monument in Fontenay-Saint-Père, France, but his surname is spelled 'Hornn.'
