Thomas Dwight Teel was born in 1925. He was the son of Thomas Howard Teel and Tula Beatrice Ray Teel.

Thomas served in the 360th Fighter Squadron, 356th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant during World War II. On August 29, 1944, he was the pilot of P-47 “Grace,” #42-25524, of the 356th Fighter Group, 360th Fighter Squadron, when it was downed over Vitry-en-Artois, France. He was reportedly killed by German aircraft that strafed him while he was parachuting toward the ground.

1Lt Teel is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
