Paul Hull Hyde, Jr. was born on October 3, 1919, in Buffalo, New York. He was the son of Paul Hull Hyde and Hallie Young Hyde.
Paul resided in Erie County, New York, prior to the war. He served as a Captain and Pilot of the P-47 #42-8677 in the 361st Fighter Squadron, 356th Fighter Group, during World War II and was Killed in Action on December 20, 1943. The collision occurred at 2,500 feet, and no chutes were observed from either aircraft.
