Vincent Bailey Churm, Jr. was born on June 3, 1921, in Oak Park, Illinois. Vincent Bailey Churm and Marjorie V Chase Churm.

Vincent Bailey, Jr. completed two years of college and was single, without dependents, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps at Chicago, Illinois, on September 9, 1942. He served in the 863rd Bomber Squadron, 493rd Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Second Lieutenant and Bombardier on the B-17G #43-38264 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on November 5, 1944, when his aircraft was shot down by flak. The aircraft caught fire, went out of control, and exploded in the air a few miles east of Ludwigshafen, Germany.

2Lt Churm is now buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint-Avold, France.
