Steve Pierce Bridges was born on August 21, 1916. He was the son of Clyde Bridges and Mary Lowry Pierce Bridges.
Steve served in the HQ of the 493rd Bomber Group as a First Lieutenant and Assistant Group Operations Officer. On July 22, 1944, he had finished his missions tour and was on the way home when he was killed in an accident in London while piloting a B-24. 1Lt Bridges is now buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Americus, Sumter County, Georgia, USA.
