John F. O'Malley, Jr. was born on October 14, 1914, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the son of John F. O'Malley and Rose A Siuka O'Malley.

John, Jr. enlisted on March 16, 1943. he served in the 753rd Bomber Squadron, 458th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Radio Operator on the B-24 #42-94811 “Tommy Thumper II” during World War II. He was Killed in Action during a training flight on January 22, 1945, in Old Catton, England. Attempting to return to the airfield, the four-motored bomber lost power and crashed just southeast of modern-day Norwich International Airport.

Sgt O'Malley is now buried in the Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA.
