Clement T. Mayer was born in 1914 in Wisconsin. He was the son of Anthony W Mayer and Clara B Zindel Mayer.
Clement resided in Wisconsin prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on October 5, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of electrical machinery and accessories and also as Single, without dependents.
Clement served in the 850th Bomber Squadron, 490th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Technical Sergeant and Top Turret Gunner on the B-17G #44-8140 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on December 5, 1944, when his B-17 was hit by enemy flak and crashed in Gross Zerlang, Germany.
SSgt Mayer is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupré, Belgium.
