Daniel C. Bereck, Jr. was born in 1916 in Ohio. He resided in Montgomery County, Maryland prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on August 2, 1943, in Camp Lee, Virginia. He was noted as being employed as a Retail manager and also as Married.

Daniel served as a Staff Sergeant on B-17G (#44-6303) "Lucky Strike", 850th Bomber Squadron, 490th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. He was declared Missing in Action on April 5, 1945, after his plane was shot down by flak on April 9, 1945, near Munich in southern Bavaria. SSgt Bereck is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing, Epinal American Cemetery, Dinoz�, France.
