Stephen J. Andrews entered military service in New Jersey. He served in the 849th Bomber Squadron, 490th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and Radio Operator on the B-17 #43-38128 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on September 13, 1944, when his plane was shot down by flak and crashed at Fuerth-Saar, east of Ottweiler, Germany.
SSgt Andrews is now buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint-Avold, France.
