Roger A. Carlsen was born on April 1, 1924. He was married to Jean Katherine Carlsen. Roger served in the 95th Bomber Squadron and survived two B17 crashes in WWII. After his capture in Germany, he spent 18 months as a POW. While being marched from Poland back to Germany, Roger and a fellow prisoner escaped, hiding for two weeks before being rescued by British infantry.

Roger died on July 27, 2016, at the age of 92, and is now buried in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA.
