Richard Alfred Hetzner was born on May 17, 1951, in Santa Clara County, California. He was the son of Hal and Tess Hetzner. Richard served in the 55th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 20th Tactical Fighter Wing as a Captain and pilot on the F-111E 68-0003 "Aardvark" during World War II. He was killed on December 19, 1979, when his airplane crashed on the west side of Craignaw Hill, Scotland, during his training flight. Cpt Hetzner is now buried in the Los Gatos Memorial Park, San Jose, Santa Clara County, California, USA.
