Philip Archibald Snyder, Jr. was born on January 10, 1921, in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Philip Archibald Snyder and Grace J Schweirs Snyder.

Philip, Jr. served in the 788th Bomber Squadron, 467th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and Gunner on the B24 #42-50439 'Broad and High' during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 14, 1944, when his airplane crashlanded at Kirby Bedon, England, from a bombing mission to an aero-engine factory at Woippy, France. SSgt Snyder is now buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
