He was Killed in Action on August 14, 1944, when his airplane crashlanded at Kirby Bedon, England, from a bombing mission to an aero-engine factory at Woippy, France. TSgt Lifschitz is now buried in the Beth David Cemetery, Elmont, Nassau County, New York, USA.
