Darlton W. Pontius was born in 1924. He entered military service in Kansas and served in the 788th Bomber Squadron, 467th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Technical Sergeant and Engineer on the B24 #42-50439 'Broad and High' during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 14, 1944, when his airplane crashlanded at Kirby Bedon, England, from a bombing mission to an aero-engine factory at Woippy, France. TSgt Pontius is now buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
